What if my child isn't interested in an "alternate" class option?
If this is the case, please write in "no other class desired" in the alternate section of the registration form.
When will I receive my comfirmation information?
Due to the fact that many applications pour in at the last minute, we usually send out confimations the week before the program begins. We don't want to cancel a class for low enrollment too early...
What if there aren't enough students to run a class?
I will put your child in one of the alternate classes that you filled in. If no alternate classes are desired, you will receive a phone call letting you know that the class not going to run, and I will void the check or return it to you (if it wasn't yet deposited), or put through a full refund at that time. Refunds can take up to 2 weeks.
What if a class is full?
All applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If a class is filled, then I will put your child in one of the alternate classes that you filled in. If no alternate classes are desired, you will receive a phone call letting you know that the class is filled, and I will void the check you sent in, or return it to you (if that's your preference).
What happens in between class sessions? Do I need to come back?
No. We will take care of transferring your child between classes, if they are signed up for more than one back to back session. You do not need to come back in between sessions. If your child is in the Preschool Program, and the classes are NOT back to back, you will need to pick them up and bring them back to the later session.
Where do we go for drop off/pick up?
Teachers will meet their classes each week in the main lobby of Perry Hill School. The classes will go to their room as a group. If you are late, myself or another staff member will bring your child to his/her classroom. The teacher will bring the children back to the main lobby at the end of his/her class for you to pick up in the same place. We do not allow parents to walk to the classrooms without a staff member accompanying them.
What if I need to pick up my child before his/her class ends?
Just as you would do on a normal school day, please send in a note to your child's enrichment class teacher with your child's name and class. Myself or another staff member will pick up your child and have him/her waiting in the lobby at the desired time.
Will my child be allowed a snack?
Yes. There will be a snack time in each class session. Please be sure to send in a peanut-free snack and a drink or water bottle for each session, as we do not provide snacks for the kids.
What if we have a major weather event on one of the Saturdays scheduled?
Because it is on a Saturday morning, parking lot and sidewalk conditions may be an issue if it snows, even if it isn't a large accumulation. We will post any cancellations due to inclement weather ON THIS WEBSITE, under the "Weather Bulletins" tab or on Twitter @SEEPROGRAM. You will NOT receive the “District Phone Call” in the event of a program cancellation, and it will NOT be posted on our local TV or radio stations. Due to the calendar this year, there is ONE make-up day for a whole program cancellation on Saturday, April 6th, and there are NO refunds.
What if my child needs to miss a week?
We will do our best to prepare what was missed in that class for your child to bring home the following week (if applicable). You do not need to contact us, as we understand that life happens, etc., but if you know ahead of time, it might be nice to let the teacher know the week beforehand. There are no refunds for missed days.
How many times a year is this program offered?
We only offer this program once a year for the 5 Saturdays in March. You can always check out the Shelton Public Schools Website for other activities happening in our schools at www.sheltonpublicschools.org
